I love kitties.  They are the best ever!!  What a life…eat, relax, play, be groomed, be spoiled.  If I could be a cat…I totally would :-)   Alas…I am one of those strange creatures they call humans…so I choose to surround myself with my furry little friends instead.  I volunteer for a wonderful no-kill cat shelter, KittyKind (see sidebar!!), and have 4 of my very own furry friends.  Brother Bucky has cut me off…but I couldn’t ask for a better four.  Meet the Royal Family…

King Apollo

Apollo really is the King!!  He came to me in October 2005 as a foster with his brother Yoda, they were 10 years old.  His wonderful owner, Shan, had to take care of her mother in Africa and was to be traveling back and forth.  Since all my kitties at the time were still in Colorado with my mom and yet to join me in NY, I was lonely!  So Apollo and Yoda came to live with me.  Apollo and I instantly bonded.  He is very regal and one of the most beautiful kitties ever.  He is very mellow, loving, and talkative!  He rules over his kingdom by perching himself on the highest point in the house.

Queen Emma

Queen Emma was the next to join my bunch.  After Yoda passed on, I decided Apollo needed a friend.  I was volunteering at KittyKind so there was endless kitties to choose from.  How do you pick a cat when there are so many?  My cats have always come to me, I’ve never really chosen them, so I didn’t know how.  After searching for a while, a pair of sisters came in, Emma and Little Girl.  Emma was not a happy camper in the cage, she bit, scratched, lashed out, and stopped eating.  She became in danger of starving herself to death so was off to Dr. G.  to have a feeding tube put in her neck.  During the time Emma was gone, Little Girl was still at KittyKind.  I thought to myself, a sister who lost her sister would be a good match for a brother who lost his brother!  However, after discussing with Emily (one of our amazing adoption reps), Emma was the one to come home with me instead of Little Girl, we just could risk Emma going back to KittyKind and becoming depressed again.

So, I waited for Emma… and waited…and waited!  She was at Dr. G’s for a long time!  I think it ended up being around 2-3 months.  Alas, I was finally able to pick her up in September 2006, she was 11 years old.  The transition of bringing Emma home was not easy.  It got so bad I thought I might actually have to return her…which broke my heart.  We tried a slow introduction and after a while, could have both cats out.  But whenever Emma would see Apollo she would attack!  Poor Apollo would run away and hide under my covers.  Emma said…I’m the Queen you silly King…stay out of my territory!  But, eventually, she calmed down and they became friends.  They have a mutual understanding between them.

Prince Picasso

Ahh…the young bratty prince.  Picasso came to me through KittyKind, he was just a baby when he was there and one of the ones that really got to me.  He is beautiful, a very handsome kitty.  Whenever you would open the cage to clean it he would leap out onto your shoulder, nuzzle his face in your neck, purr, and basically swoon you to no end.  Every week I went in and every week he was still there…I couldn’t understand it.  He was my favorite for weeks…then I realized, he was meant to be with me.  So I took him in January 2007, he was 5 months old.

He really is a classic Prince.  He struts around with his chest puffed out, swatting at everything in play, trying to be like King Apollo, beating up the bunch (including me), but really… he is just a big baby, but only in secret…when no one else is looking.

Princess Mika

Mika came to me with her brother Picasso.  When she was at KittyKind you couldn’t even touch her.  She was so scared, so timid, she would hide in the back of the cage and let Picasso have all the attention.  She was tiny in comparison to her brother.  When I came to pick up Picasso she was still in the cage with him… I thought to myself, I can’t just leave her and take him!!  So, at the slightest mention to Emily, she said… “Oh!  Take them both, if it doesn’t work out you can bring her back”.  So she was mine, she came home in January 2007, 5 months old.

It took a bit for Mika to be comfortable, and she is still getting more comfortable every day.  She is a different cat from the cat at the store.  Though still tiny as can be, she is adorable, and she knows it.  She saunters around and says, look at me, I’m soooo cute!  Then she runs away and just when you think you are not going to catch her she throws herself down and lets you pet her to no end.  What a mush.

So, that is my current kitty family… and what a bunch they are!  It is the perfect balance right now…I couldn’t ask for more…and in fact cannot…or else brother Bucky would kick me :-)

I do not know who originally wrote this but I must say, it is an interesting idea to say the least!

This was written early, it is now up to 700 billion. Pass it on.
 ***************************************************************
To my fellow Americans……

I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.  So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.  That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.  A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college – it’ll be there
Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car – create jobs
Invest in the market – capital drives growth
Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean – or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…

If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG – liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.

Sure it’s a crazy idea that can ‘never work.’

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.

And remember, this plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh…I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it’s either good for a laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!

My mother.  I love her to death.  I gave her hell when I was young and somehow, someway, she turned me into who I am today.  I happen to really like who I am and what I am about and she played a vital role in that.  Thank you mama…for dealing with me and being my best friend.

For those of you who don’t know…my mother is extremely talented.  She has her own business, Colorado Comfort (please see side bar!!) and in addition, she is the Costume Designer for the Durango High School Theater, one of the best theaters in Colorado.   She is so talented and in such high demand for projects that she often has to turn things down… ahh the life :-)

Kitty Kitty Boom Boom, a newer shop in Durango, CO, recently held a contest, The Coffee Bag Couture Contest.  The objective was to take real coffee bags and make them into something you’d see on the runway.  My fantaboulus mother made the coolest jacket!!  Way to go mama!!

Every once in awhile in this magical world called life I get these uncontrollable urges.  These urges to change it, to mix it up, to make it laugh, to piss it off, to make it cry, to make it dance, to make it sing, to make it…me.

I have never been one for conforming to what is expected.  I tend to veer away from what I hear people talking about, from the new cool.  I like to have my own cool, even though most of the time it is only cool to me.  As long as I’m enjoying it, that is what matters, right?!

The other day I had an epiphany.  I became completely fed up with the myspacers, the facebookers, the match.comers, the eharmanyers, and so on and so forth.  Hence, I deleted myself from anything that I ever existed on.  It was exhilarating, which is silly… I mean really, why does it matter?  But nonetheless, I was thoroughly pleased with myself.  Ahh, the simple pleasures in life.

In any case, I am not gone, but am now pursuing the Opposite of Disappearing.  Join me if you will on my new journey.  It’s bound to be entertaining if nothing else :-)

where am i?
